Barsele and Agnico Eagle Approve an Exploration Program for the Barsele Gold Project in Västerbottens Län, Sweden
VANCOUVER, Oct. 20, 2015 /CNW/ - Barsele Minerals Corp. – (TSX-V: BME) ("Barsele"), is pleased to announce that an exploration program has been approved by the joint technical committee with Agnico Eagle Mines Limited. – (TSX: AEM) ("Agnico Eagle") for the Barsele Gold Project in Västerbottens Län, Sweden. Agnico Eagle will serve as the operator of the program.
The 2015 exploration budget totals approximately $US 3.25 million and commences immediately. Structural geology mapping and diamond drilling, with two drill rigs, are currently underway.
Barsele's President, Gary Cope says, "Agnico Eagle has expressed a serious commitment to advance the Barsele project. We are very pleased to have the strong technical team at Agnico Eagle as our joint venture partners."
The 2015 proposed program will include:
- Diamond drilling around the existing resource area of about 12,300 metres,
- An expansion to the regional basal glacial till sampling program,
- Trenching and structural geology mapping in the Central Zone,
- Hyperspectral infrared scanning of drill core from the Central Zone,
- Geophysical parameter downhole logging in the Central and Norra Zones,
- Metallurgical testwork,
- Environmental studies,
- Hydrogeology studies, both local and regional.
Service provider agreements have been signed with Golder Associates Sweden regarding environmental studies and with GeoVista of Luleå, Sweden, regarding geophysical data compilation. Hyperspectral studies are being conducted by TerraCore International together with Specim.
About the Barsele Gold Project
Barsele Project is located on the western end of the Proterozoic "Skellefte Trend", a prolific volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits belt, where it intersects with the "Gold Line" in northern Sweden. Both polymetallic deposits and intrusive hosted orogenic gold deposits are present in this region and on the property. Current and past producers in the region include Boliden, Kristineberg, Bjorkdal, Svartliden, and Storliden.
In November of 2012, mineral resource estimates by Orex Minerals Inc. – (TSX.V: REX) ("Orex") were released for the Barsele Project in four zones, the Central, Avan and Skiråsen Gold Zones and the Norra VMS Zone (Orex News Release dated 21 November 2012).
