WINNIPEG

/CNW/ - It was a night to remember Friday evening at the Dakota Community Centre in
Winnipeg
, and a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Balmoral Hall School (BH) Blazers Prep Hockey players, as they played against the Swiss Women's Olympic team in preparation for the 2010
Vancouver
Olympic Winter Games. With a packed house, estimated at close to 600 in attendance, the Blazers skated well against the
Vancouver
bound Swiss Olympians.
"Playing the Swiss team was a once in a lifetime experience and I am thankful that BH gave me the opportunity to experience it. Being on the ice with Olympians and realizing that we could compete with them was incredible," exclaims
Michelle Pawluk
, Co-Captain of the BH Blazers. "The score (9-0 for the Swiss) was not completely indicative of the flow of the game. We ran into some penalty trouble, and of course a team of that caliber is going to take advantage of those opportunities. The Swiss were more experienced and it showed, they moved the puck very well and made smart decisions." Pawluk adds, "Overall this was a great experience and I am honoured to have been chosen as game star. It was a highlight of my hockey career that I will remember forever!"
With spirited play on both sides and numerous Blazer scoring opportunities - in front of a strong BH fan base and a boisterous Swiss crowd - the Blazers and Swiss provided a very entertaining game with a final score of 9 - 0 for the Swiss.
The Balmoral Hall School Skating and hockey program commits itself to the advancement of female hockey within the province of Manitoba by providing an elite level of competition for student athletes committed to personal excellence on and off the ice.
