Atlanta
Gold Inc. (TSX: ATG) announces that it has purchased a 1% net smelter return royalty on production from the
Atlanta
gold mine which is currently under development, thereby further optimizing the economics of the project. The Company continues to make progress expanding and upgrading its resource base while advancing the
Atlanta
gold project to production.
A 2% royalty was granted to Canadian American Mining Company LLC ("CAMC") when the Company acquired the remaining 20% participating interest in the property from CAMC in 2003. The royalty is on all minerals produced on the property which consists of 1,888.75 acres (2.95 square miles) of private and public properties which are owned, leased or optioned by the Company.
The Company purchased one-half (1%) of CAMC's original 2% royalty in exchange for the issuance of 5,750,000 common shares and total cash payments of US$200,000 to be paid over 15 months. The shares will be subject to a four month statutory hold period.
"The purchase of the royalty is another positive step in the Company's strategy to optimize the economics of the
Atlanta
gold mine. With the significant progress being made in exploration and advancing the project toward production, we felt it was time to deal with this royalty which covered the entire property plus an area of interest and had been outstanding for over six years," said
Bill Baird
, President and CEO of
Atlanta
.
