MONTRÉAL, Sept. 18, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The president of the Syndicat des Cols bleus regroupés de Montréal (CUPE 301) is happy to confirm the happy ending of the political saga that occurred on May 18 at a provincial convention of their affiliation at the Québec City Convention Centre. "Indeed, last Wednesday we learned that all lawsuits against me and the other 6 delegates targeted by the accusations related to this incident were abandoned and thus the promise to appear at the Palais de Justice de Quebec that one of us had signed was cancelled."
We are sincerely thankful to the seasoned investigators of the Quebec police and the Crown prosecutor for their meticulous work in this case stitched of white threads. Even with erroneous allegations skillfully poured to certain media to make pressure on the judicial system, they were not duped. After having confronted all the testimonies with the real time viewing of the videos from the security cameras with multiple angles of view of the events, our version of the facts were retained. We thank all those who supported us during this trying hardship where we were abandoned by our representative bodies and during which we were mistreated internally by certain opportunists as guilty before judgement of acts that are contrary to our principles.
Now that we have been exonerated of this sad event that was the trigger of the administration of our local section, we reiterate our demand to the president of the national CUPE to rapidly end it so as to give way to the democratic election of a new union executive with all the powers and modalities provided by our constitution as duly approved by the CUPE. We remind him of the promise made that we would have new leaders on time to lead the negotiations for the renewal of the collective agreement with the City of Montréal.
It's all about respecting our autonomy and the right of our members to be represented by the delegates of their choosing as provided by the Labour Code. The permitted period of negotiation is starting soon and is being restricted by the new law ; it is urgent to act accordingly!
N.B.: In respect of the Administration, no further comments are planned.
