AJAX, ON, Aug. 21, 2015 /CNW/ - Deer Creek Golf & Banquet Facility in partnership with Coughlan Homes hosted its Annual Deer Creek Cares Golf Tournament on Thursday, August 13, 2015, raising $30,718 benefiting Distress Centre Durham. Chosen by its employees, Distress Centre Durham helps people in distress by providing emotional support, crisis/suicide management, and community education.
"The 2015 Deer Creek Cares golf tournament was a remarkable accomplishment," said president of Deer Creek Golf Clubs and Coughlan Homes, Scott Collins. "I believe the choice of Distress Centre Durham reflects a real need in our community. In addition to a beautiful day on the golf course, this year's tournament benefited from an astounding number of participants and sponsorships. Based on comments made by Victoria Kehoe, executive director of Distress Centre Durham, the funds raised will make a significant difference to the ability of Distress Centre Durham to serve our community."
The Deer Creek Cares Golf Tournament held on the beautiful 18-hole south course was a sold out event. Anyone purchasing a tournament passport at the registration table also had access to all of the games on the course, which included a putting contest, closest to the pin, straightest drive, and a Vegas hole. The hole-in-one contest may have been the hardest game to win, but it also came with the biggest prize which was a 2014 Ford F150, sponsored by Formula Ford Lincoln. The Deer Creek Cares golf tournament chooses a different community charity to partner with each year.
Director of Golf, Tom Arnott, was ecstatic at the results of the tournament saying, "The tournament was an overwhelming success with our donation to this great cause surpassing the $30,000 mark for the first time ever! Total money raised was $30,718 to help the people in need within our community."
