TORONTO, April 15, 2020 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors of Université de l'Ontario français (UOF) is proud to announce that André Roy has been appointed to the position of President. This important announcement comes a few weeks after the signing of the historic bi-level funding agreement for UOF, and the unveiling of the campus location for this major new institution serving Francophonie in Ontario. Mr. Roy becomes the university's first permanent President.
Unquestionable academic credibility; communal vision and values
Université de l'Ontario français selected Mr. Roy owing to his many years of experience in a variety of significant roles at several leading institutions. Mr. Roy has enjoyed a unique and rewarding career path as a professor, researcher and university administrator. André Roy began as a professor at the University of Montreal from 1982 to 2011, and additionally served as Vice-Dean of Research in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences from 2006 to 2008. In 2011, Roy moved to Ontario, becoming Dean of the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo. In 2014 he became Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Concordia University, a position he occupies to this day.
A respected and experienced university administrator, André Roy has also been recognized for excellence in research and teaching, earning numerous distinctions and awards. His impressive track record, reputation as a creative builder, and contributions to significant and positive transformations convinced the UOF's Board of Directors that he was the right fit with its seasoned leadership team. He will join the UOF team as August 1st.
Next milestone
Ahead on the road for Université de l'Ontario français is the certification of its unique transdisciplinary programs. UOF's pedagogical DNA is inspired by the major social issues of our century, and is divided into four pillars of transdisciplinary study: studies in human plurality, globalized economy, urban environments and digital culture.
UOF is currently presenting these programs to the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB/ CEQEP), which will review them in the coming months.
These recent developments testify to the momentum UOF has built both in terms of refining its operational structure, and in hiring staff. Its future looks more promising than ever.
