American University of Afghanistan Gymnasium Re-dedicated


<p><location>KABUL</location>, <location>Afghanistan</location>, <chron>Nov. 11</chron> /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The reconstructed Michelle Bayat Gymnasium at the <org>American University</org> of <location>Afghanistan</location> was dedicated by the chairman of the Bayat Foundation, <person>Mr. Ehsanullah Bayat</person>, on <chron>Sunday, November 1, 2009</chron> and turned over to the president of the <org>American University</org> of <location>Afghanistan</location>.</p>


<p>The building was ninety percent rebuilt from the ruins of war.  It had been reduced to a pile of rubble and now would be the envy of many small schools in western countries.  The reconstruction of the 8000 square foot gymnasium included the gymnasium flooring, lighting, steel roof, table tennis area, stage, male and female showers, heated male and female locker rooms, modern male and female toilets, state-of-the-art heating and ventilation system, advanced drainage system and modern electrical system.  Students now have facilities to balance academics and sports.  As one student said, "We are all very pleased and thankful to the Bayat Foundation for building such a modern sports complex to international standards."  The facility is ready to host graduation ceremonies, international sporting competitions and performances; many functions that bring any city to life.</p>
<p>Other examples of the Bayat Foundation's accomplishments and efforts are the construction of the 150-bed Saleha Bayat Maternity Hospital in Mazar-e-Sharif; construction of the Mariam Bayat Girls Dormitory at Bamyan university; drilling of deep wells in the Saighan district and Mullah Omer areas of Bamyan province; construction of the Zahra Bayat Maternity Hospital in the town of Nili in Daikundi province; construction of the Zahra Bayat Dormitory in the Herat Orphanage; building of a 14Km road in Khurram and Sar Bagh districts; construction of the water supply system for the residents of Hazrate Sultan town in Samangan province; the 20-bed maternity hospital in the Tora Bora district of Nangarhar province; the Bayat Clinic in Sar-i-Pul province; the library of Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan in Kunar; the construction of the Chundawal Praying Room in <location>Kabul</location> province; construction of the Bayat Masjid in Logar and Baghlan province; a computer & internet lab, establishment of a TV training studio and journalism faculty at <location>Kabul</location> university; and construction of sports stadiums in the Parwan and Gozargah villages of <location>Kabul</location> province.  Construction of religious buildings and mosques are also underway in both <location>Kabul</location> and the provinces.</p>
