OTTAWA, Aug. 20, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Broccolini officially launched construction of the build-to-suit distribution centre for American giant Amazon in Ottawa, in the presence of several dignitaries including the Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, the Honourable Jim Wilson, Ontario Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, Jim Watson, the Mayor of Ottawa and Amazon representatives.
With a surface area of more than one million square feet, the Amazon distribution centre, which received site plan approval from the City of Ottawa, will be the largest industrial facility ever built in the area. The opening of the new distribution centre is slated for the summer of 2019 and will create over 650 full time jobs once the facility is operational, and up to 1,500 jobs over the course of its construction.
