Alliance Pipeline supports safety of Albertans with disabilities through donation to Camp He Ho Ha
WHITECOURT, AB, June 17, 2013 /CNW/ - Alliance Pipeline has announced a $40,000 donation to Camp Health, Hope and Happiness (Camp He Ho Ha).
Alliance Pipeline's Whitecourt Area Manager, Gord Johnson, announced the donation last Friday, at the yearly Golf Classic and Charity Fundraiser hosted by George VanderBurg, MLA for Whitecourt-Ste. Anne and Alberta's Associate Minister of Seniors. The donation will pay for the purchase of a new passenger transport van to help ensure safe transportation for Camp He Ho Ha participants.
"Camp He Ho Ha provides a unique and vital service within the province of Alberta", said Rob Gray, who oversees Alliance's Community Investment Program. "As part of Alliance Pipeline's ongoing commitment to the community, we saw this as an important way to invest in safety and at the same time help enrich the lives of Albertans who struggle with disability".
The donation is being made through Alliance's Community Investment Program which provides financial and volunteer support for initiatives and programs that focus on safety, community development, energy education, environmental stewardship and leadership development in the areas where Alliance operates.
Camp He Ho Ha provides a meaningful recreational experience for its campers and an important respite for care givers. Alliance's donation will be used to purchase a much-needed new van to transport campers to and from the facility.
Joan Nielsen, Executive Director of the camp, said, "This generous donation will make an immediate difference to camp participants and employees. At a time when non-profits are feeling the funding pinch, we would not be able to continue providing safe service without the support of community leaders like Alliance Pipeline. We thank them for their commitment to making a positive impact in the community".
Camp He Ho Ha is the only camp in Alberta that provides safe and rewarding recreational opportunities to youth and adults who have any type and any degree of disability or illness. The camp is located on Lake Isle and accepts over 750 individuals each summer. The facility offers a wheelchair accessible indoor swimming pool, an 18 hole mini-golf course, a state of the art three-sided 40 foot climbing wall, a high ropes course, a low wheelchair accessible ropes course and much more.
Alliance Pipeline owns and operates a 3,700 kilometer rich natural gas transmission system between the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and the Chicago market hub. Since Alliance Pipeline commenced operations in 2000, the company has contributed more than $17 million dollars towards community investment initiatives and programs in the communities across the pipeline system.
