TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - The Alliance Française de Toronto, one of Canada's largest language schools and cultural centers, learned with great sadness yesterday of the passing of Robert Kaplan, a lifelong activist in the area of French language training and culture.
Mr. Kaplan had been a board member of the Alliance Française from July 2003 to up to the time of his passing.
The Alliance Française de Toronto is presently celebrating its 110th anniversary and is expanding its main school on 24 Spadina Road, to include a new French language theatre, state-of-the-art classes and others facilities.
The Alliance Francaise shall name one of its principal entrances of our expansion after Robert Kaplan in honour of his contribution to the growth of the Alliance and its mission.
The board of directors and the management of the Alliance Française de Toronto would like to express their condolences to the family and friends of the man who was a great Canadian and a tireless contributor to bilingualism in this country.
