The Australian winery and Great Big Sea's front man band together in a Wine Orchestra for music charity
TORONTO, May 22, 2012 /CNW/ - [yellow tail] is calling on Canadians to make music with their wine alongside Great Big Sea's front man Alan Doyle in the [yellow tail] Wine Orchestra at www.yellowtailwine.com/wineorchestra. For every participant, [yellow tail] will donate $1 CAD to the Unison Benevolent Fund.
Those with musical talent and those with none at all can participate in the [yellow tail] Wine Orchestra. It's as simple as filming a web cam video of yourself dinging, rubbing, clinking or tapping your wine glass. The musical sequence will be included in a compilation of other wine glass videos by [yellow tail] fans, including Doyle's.
Doyle has joined the campaign to help support other Canadian musicians. For every video recorded and shared on [yellow tail]'s Facebook page between May 15 and September 30, [yellow tail] will donate $1 CAD to the Unison Benevolent Fund, a program that provides assistance to Canadian musicians in times of personal hardship and crisis.
"As a musician who started out in what was a small, East Coast band, I understand the risks those of us in the industry have taken to follow our dreams," says Doyle. "Without a support system like the Unison Benevolent Fund, many of us would be forced to stall or potentially end our careers to make ends meet. So the [yellow tail] Wine Orchestra's mission really resonates with me. Add to that my love of Aussie wine and we're singing - or 'dinging' - in this case."
Doyle is no stranger to playing unusual instruments (such as the bouzouki and bodhran), and has already filmed his part in the [yellow tail] Wine Orchestra, along with a video explaining his role in the program, which can be found at www.wineorchestra.ca.

Started in 2010, the Unison Benevolent Fund is an assistance program created for the music community, by the music community. If an individual has made their living in the music industry - including everyone from songwriters to roadies - they can qualify for assistance during times of personal difficulty, from medical/disability issues to financial hardship.
