TORONTO, Dec. 2 /CNW/ - AGF Emerging Markets Fund, described as "the standard-bearer for its asset class," was again recognized as the top Emerging Markets Equity Fund at last night's Canadian Investment Awards.
AGF Emerging Markets Fund, managed by Patricia Perez-Coutts and the AGF Global Equity team, was honoured for the fifth time for its consistent outstanding performance.
The seven-member team of portfolio managers and analysts hails from four different continents and speaks a total of 10 languages. They have all had experience living or working in an emerging market country.
"At AGF, our investment management team works diligently to deliver consistent and superior long-term returns for investors," said Martin Hubbes, AGF's Executive Vice-President and Chief Investment Officer. "Together with our considerable experience in managing emerging markets equities, being recognized with the top Emerging Markets Fund award for the fifth time enhances our already outstanding reputation in this category."
The win follows AGF's launch of two groundbreaking funds in the emerging markets category. AGF Emerging Markets Bond Fund and AGF Emerging Markets Balanced Fund debuted earlier this week to give investors further access to the ongoing potential of emerging markets.
AGF Emerging Markets Bond Fund will be managed by Jean Charbonneau, Tom Nakamura and Tristan Sones of AGF's award-winning fixed-income team. The team's AGF Canadian High Yield Bond Fund received a bronze award for its sector at last night's Canadian Investment Awards.
The second new product, AGF Emerging Markets Balanced Fund, believed to be one of the first of its kind in North America, will be managed by AGF's global equities team led by Perez-Coutts and the fixed-income team led by Jean Charbonneau.
