Aeroplan Renews Agreements with Avis and Hertz

MONTREAL , Dec. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - Aeroplan today announced the renewal of multi-year agreements with its car rental partners of choice - Avis and Hertz, that will enable members to continue to earn and redeem Aeroplan Miles on all car rentals across North America and Europe .

With both renewals, members will be able to continue to earn up to 5,000 Aeroplan Miles per car rental plus any applicable bonus offers. In addition, members can redeem Aeroplan Miles starting at 5,000 miles for any date and destination within Canada , the United States and Europe on aeroplan.com. Starting January 1st , members will also be able to earn 400 miles every time they redeem miles for a car rental from Avis.

From January 1 - March 31, 2010 , Avis will be offering Double Miles for weekly car rentals of five or more days as well as Double Miles for weekend rentals of two or more days at both airport and off-airport locations. Hertz will be offering 250 Bonus Miles and Aeroplan Members will get a 20 per cent discount on qualifying rentals from January 1 - June 30, 2010 . In addition, when members rent a car from Avis and Hertz through Aeroplan.com, they can also redeem Aeroplan Miles to purchase carbon offsets for their rental. At time of booking, Aeroplan will calculate the offset required based on the average daily use and size of the car. Aeroplan matches all miles redeemed for offsets by 20 per cent. The total sum is applied to high quality Canadian Offset Projects. Members can also redeem 3,500, 7,500 or 15,000 Aeroplan Miles for carbon offsets at www.aeroplan.com/offset.
