MONTREAL, June 20, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is pleased with the advertising campaign promoting all that downtown and its many businesses have to offer, which was unveiled today by the Mayor of Montréal, Gérald Tremblay. Ongoing demonstrations have had a negative impact on many merchants, and it is important to breathe new life into the economic heart of our city.
"This effort is an initial response to the blow struck to the city centre and its merchants as a result of repeated demonstrations," says Michel Leblanc, president and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. "Given a significant drop in traffic, last month we encouraged people who love Montréal to resume their summer habits and to come celebrate the downtown core by visiting their favourite restaurants, taking in a show and shopping at the stores they love. We are pleased to see that the Ville de Montréal has acted quickly, and we hope that the media and opinion leaders will help revive activities downtown."
