TORONTO, Jan. 15, 2013 /CNW/ - Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) announced today that it has entered into a three-year sponsorship agreement with Courage Canada, a registered charity that leads the development of the sport of Blind Hockey and provides children and youth who are blind or visually impaired with the opportunity to learn to skate and try Blind Hockey.
"This is a terrific partnership that is mutually beneficial to AMI and Courage Canada on several levels," explains Peter Burke, AMI Vice-President of Marketing and Communications. "Our corporate mandate is to make all media accessible to all Canadians and this relationship with Courage Canada provides us the opportunity to reach our core audience at a grassroots level and communicate all of the valuable things we are doing to improve the lives of Canadians who are blind or partially sighted. In turn, AMI provides necessary monetary support to help fund Courage Canada's hockey programs."
The three-year sponsorship includes numerous cross-promotional opportunities for both parties as well as an invaluable opportunity to empower Canadians living with blindness or low vision by enlightening them and engaging them in activities that would ordinarily seem unachievable.
"We are looking forward to continuing to grow our partnership with AMI over the next three years," said Mark DeMontis, Founder and President of Courage Canada. "Together we can make media and now hockey accessible to Canadians who are blind or partially sighted. We are very grateful for the support from AMI that will allow us to get hundreds of boys and girls with visual impairments out on to the ice coast-to-coast, many of them for their very first time."
AMI is the proud presenting sponsor of the upcoming Courage Canada National Blind Hockey Tournament February 15th - 17th, 2013. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Toronto at the newly renovated Mattamy Athletic Centre at the Gardens (formerly Maple Leaf Gardens). The tournament features 4 teams made up of approximately 50 players from all across Canada, including Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Saskatoon. Spectators are welcome and admission is by donation in support of Courage Canada's charitable programs. For more information visit www.couragecanada.ca
