Government of Canada awards more than $293,000 in financial assistance to this Estrie organization
SHERBROOKE, QC, Sept. 15, 2017 /CNW/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions(CED)
By investing in organizations that help business start-ups, the Government of Canada is directing resources to initiatives that have the greatest positive impact on the lives of Canadians.
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, announced that Accélérateur de création d'entreprises technologiques (ACET) has been granted $293,500 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, so it can continue to provide customized coaching for innovative businesses in the Estrie region and the Brome-Missisquoi and Haute-Yamaska RCMs. The project will help maintain or create 99 jobs in the region and consolidate four jobs directly related to ACET's day-to-day operations.
Established in 2011, ACET is a non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage, facilitate and accelerate the creation and start-up of innovative enterprises by transforming projects with high development potential into businesses and helping university graduates with the right qualifications become entrepreneurs. The funding awarded through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) will help ACET pay the coaches for the SMEs and cover part of the operating costs.
"The Government of Canada is committed to investing in job creation to grow the economy and increase prosperity for Canadians. That is why we support ACET, which makes it a priority to accelerate the growth of new innovative technological businesses and the development of their entrepreneurs."
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED
"Many success stories have originated between the walls of the Accélérateur de création d'entreprises technologiques (ACET) since its creation. By continuing to support this institution, we are fostering the emergence of a new generation of innovative entrepreneurs who are contributing to the economic vitality of the region."
The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie
"We are very grateful to the Canadian government and to Canada Economic Development for its continued support for ACET's activities. With this new financial contribution and those of our other partners, ACET will be able to maintain and increase the customized coaching it offers young entrepreneurs and their technological businesses to help their innovative technologies evolve into marketable products."
Ghyslain Goulet, Chief Executive Officer of ACET
