A Step Ahead of Foot Health Awareness Month

NAOT expands to a Sixth Canadian Retail Location

THORNHILL, ON, May 7 /CNW/ - To the delight of comfortable footwear-fanciers in York Region who've been asking for a store in their neighbourhood, NAOT opened its newest location on March 24th in Thornhill. Since this comes just on the heels of World Foot Health Awareness Month in May, it's also an opportune time to remind Canadians to be kind to their feet!

According to Robert Chelin DPM, a Toronto podiatrist and current President of the International Federation of Podiatrists, "Optimal foot health depends on four steps - regular inspection of your feet, regular maintenance of the feet, ensuring optimal foot circulation and wearing good quality footwear." He adds, "The best shoes provide stability, support and cushioning."

Much to the chagrin of foot care specialists, Canadian feet are often neglected and sometimes completely ignored, even though they tirelessly carry us through the daily experiences of our lives. In fact, Health Canada suggests that at least three out of four people develop serious foot problems as they age, putting both wellbeing and overall health in peril.

Clearly, footwear that offers support via an innersole made from multiple layers of ergonomically-designed material is also the key to providing comfort. That's likely the reason NAOT (www.naot.ca) footwear-lovers extol the virtues of these shoes that never need to be "broken in" and feature unique, signature footbeds based on the "footprint in the sand" concept. Not only does inner construction provide stability and flexibility for the foot, but many styles have foot beds that are easily removable to accommodate custom orthotics.

The new NAOT location is conveniently nestled in a Thornhill shopping plaza just west of Bathurst at 1102 Center Street (905-597-7191), the sixth in a steady succession of officially-branded NAOT Footwear stores. Its 2,000 square foot showroom will display the growing line of fashionable, and often flirty, NAOT styles in the season's most trend-setting colours and smooth, tooled, patent and subtle metallic leather finishes, including many with interesting accent embellishments. Just as with other NAOT locations, business hours will be Monday - Saturday 10am-5pm, and Sunday 11am -5pm.

"We chose this prime location in the heart of a rapidly growing retail area," notes NAOT President Corinne Lissoos.
