, June 17, 2015 /CNW/ - On Thursday, June 18th, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia will officially become home to what may be North America's first permanent, indoor food truck food court:
. The innovative new concept started out as two co-located quick-service restaurants, Cheese Curds Gourmet Burgers + Poutinerie
and Habaneros Modern Taco Bar
, and now offers three additional restaurant choices: Lil Eatily Pasta Bar
, U-Pick Fish Seafood Shack
, and Gweilo Asian Noodle Bar
. TRUCK-SIDE customers can place their orders at actual food truck windows and enjoy their meals at picnic tables in a large room painted to look like an outdoor parking lot in the heart of Canada
"At TRUCK-SIDE, we have five different restaurant concepts under one roof, all with chef-inspired, in-house-made food and the exceptional service people have come to expect from us," said Chef Bill Pratt, owner of the restaurant group. "TRUCK-SIDE will give our customers an exciting and delicious new dining option – not only through its excellent food quality and eclectic choices, but also its 'you've-never-seen-anything-like-this' atmosphere."
TRUCK-SIDE features a bright blue painted sky overhead, parking lot lines on the floor, lampposts, and guest seating at picnic tables with umbrellas. "The ambience is warm and friendly, and the seating encourages community," says Pratt. "In a nod to TRUCK-SIDE's varied menu inspired by our nation's diversity, the walls feature a 360-degree hand-painted mural celebrating Canada."
Alongside the conception, construction, and execution of TRUCK-SIDE over the past 15 months, Chef Pratt and his executive team have been developing a comprehensive franchise package for his unique gourmet burger and poutine restaurant, Cheese Curds Gourmet Burgers + Poutinerie™. The original 24-seat Cheese Curds restaurant was named the best new restaurant in Nova Scotia by the Restaurant Association of Nova Scotia and one of Where Magazine's top 10 best new restaurants in Canada, and has won numerous awards for 'best burger' in Nova Scotia.
Pratt, a former Command Food Services Chief for the Canadian Navy and Executive Chef for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics Athletes' Village, has achieved considerable success since entering the quick-service restaurant business in Dartmouth, having already expanded to eight restaurants and one food truck in three years.
