MONTREAL, June 27, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Jacques Marchand, Director General of LaSalle College, will become the new president of the Fondation de la mode de Montréal. He will succeed Pierre Bovet, on July 1st.
A member of the Board of Directors since 1993 and chairman since 2008, Mr. Bovet leaves his position to devote himself to his professional and personal obligations. He will remain one of the Honorary Patrons of the foundation.
"Recognizing the important role of the foundation in the higher education of tomorrow's designers, I am looking forward to continue working with the dedicated members of the Board of Directors and with the many partners of the fashion industry and the business world," said Jacques Marchand, one of the pioneers of the Fondation de la mode de Montréal.
Mr. Marchand is leading LaSalle College (founded in 1959), the largest bilingual college in North America, which encompasses five specialized schools, including the International School of Fashion, Arts and Design, the largest in Canada, which set forth many designers of the fashion world.

Montreal is an important center of fashion where almost half of the garments manufactured in Canada are produced. In this context and on the initiative of LaSalle College, the Fondation de la mode de Montréal was created in 1989.
This non-profit organization and registered charity, promotes training of the best students in Quebec, who have a college diploma, to help them pursue graduate studies. It also supports research in the field of clothing and textiles to stimulate creativity and give Montréal a cutting edge in global competition. Fondation de la mode de Montréal will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2014.
