Four world-renowned architecture firms bid to revitalize S.Pellegrino flagship factory in San Pellegrino Terme
TORONTO, July 21, 2016 /CNW/ - S.Pellegrino – the world's leading sparkling mineral water, with a heritage of over 100 years of taste and style – will revitalize its bottling plant in San Pellegrino Terme, Italy, where the source is located.
Since 1899, S.Pellegrino has been ahead of its time. The brand is now looking for a project that not only conveys its artistic vision, but also sets new standards in efficiency and environmental sustainability, all while providing a favorable working environment.
These values motivated the brand to launch an international search for the best architecture firm to achieve their vision. Four of the world's most distinguished architecture firms have been shortlisted, including: BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group (New York/ Copenhagen), MVRDV (Rotterdam), Snøhetta (New York/ Oslo) and Michele De Lucchi (Italy).
This leap forward is also a testimony of S.Pellegrino's commitment to terroir, the place where everything started, and a step towards bringing San Pellegrino Terme back to its golden age, at the height of the Belle Époque, when the town was an exclusive society rendez-vous for European aristocracy.
On September 15, 2016 the four projects will be presented to a Judging Committee, coordinated by Professor Luca Molinari, Architecture Consulting & Curatorship, curator of the tender. The Committee will include, Marco Settembri, Executive Vice President Nestlé S.A., Head of Nestlé Waters, Magdi Batato, Executive Vice President Nestlé S.A., Head of Operations, Stefano Agostini, President and CEO of Sanpellegrino, among other international personalities.
"I am particularly proud of this project," said Stefano Agostini, President and CEO of the Sanpellegrino Group. "With this initiative, we intend to further promote the quality, uniqueness, international nature and origins of S.Pellegrino. Our brand is one with a rich history that is deeply-rooted in Italian tradition, which is recognized worldwide for its elegance, taste and excellence. We have invited four architecture studios of international stature to take part in this tender to design the home of S.Pellegrino mineral water, which will become an icon for our Group, welcoming visitors from all corners of the world".
S.Pellegrino will announce the winning project and its timeline at the end of September.
Updates related to all the phases of the project will be shared on Sanpellegrino.com and on S.Pellegrino's social channels with the hashtag #SanPellegrinoNewHome.
