A moving celebration for 16 prominent figures in arts and literature

MONTRÉAL, May 30, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - During an emotional ceremony yesterday, 16 Québec luminaries from the arts became Companions of the Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec. Diane Dufresne, Kent Nagano, Florent Vollant, Kim Yaroshevskaya, Michel Rabagliati, Phoebe Greenberg, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Roger Frappier, Anna McGarrigle, Pierre Lassonde, René Derouin, Denise Filiatrault, Vincent Warren, Michel Dallaire, Charles Richard-Hamelin and Lorraine Pintal each took to the podium in turn to receive their lapel pin from Marie Côté, chair of the board of directors of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. The event hosted by Claude Deschênes was held at Montréal's Phi Centre. It can be viewed on the social networks of the Conseil.

"Whether they are making us laugh and think, revealing something of themselves and us, sharing their knowledge of the arts or developing ambitious projects, these people have come into our lives and touched our souls," Ms. Côté said. "Their journey, generosity, vision, talent and work have left a mark on us and made us grow. Whether they are familiar to the public or recognized for bringing works of art to audiences, the members of the Ordre share the distinction of helping the arts flourish, and they should be proud of the fruit of their passion and hard work."
