Being human at school
QUÉBEC CITY, Sept. 15, 2026 /CNW/ -- Secondary schools can now measure their social climate, as assessed directly by their own students.
A 3-Minute Test
Being Human in Secondary School takes the form of a test administered to students. They are asked to assess 15 behaviors they encounter every day at school. The test also asks them to assess their own attitude, their school's social climate, and their sense of safety.
As soon as the test is completed, each student receives personalized feedback, including comparisons based on their status.
Let the Dialogue Begin
Once the testing period is complete, the school gains access to a simple, innovative and information-rich dashboard. In addition to learning how students rate their school's social climate, schools can see how students assess their own 15 behaviors.
The dashboard provides segmented data by grade level (Secondary 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5), gender, program and even individual class. Dialogue can then begin, and sensitive issues can be addressed based on how students themselves perceive them.
Targeted Action
For schools, Being Human in Secondary School makes it possible to precisely identify which behaviors are more sensitive and which groups require intervention.
Rather than subscribing to a national cause without regard for its own reality, a school can now obtain, in less than 48 hours, a precise assessment of its social climate and take action accordingly.
According to Pierre Côté, founder and president of the Humanity Index, the Being Human in Secondary School test represents a modern and relevant tool, as well as a great opportunity for schools to mobilize their staff around priorities clearly expressed by the Ministry of Education, while also raising students' awareness of the importance of improving how we live and interact together.
The Being Human in Secondary School project contributes to the development of students' social and relational skills in pursuit of a better way of living together. It can provide a school with a behavioral profile in less than 48 hours.
About the Humanity Index
The Humanity Index is a non-profit organization dedicated to social well-being. It measures perceptions of humanity in our society and assesses the 14 dimensions that make it up. The Being Human movement, meanwhile, focuses on behaviors, with the goal of improving them through introspective exercises (tests).
Our data is based on surveys conducted among a large, representative sample of the Canadian and Québec populations.
