TORONTO, March 26, 2019 /CNW/ - As Promise Gluten Free, the impossibly good gluten-free bakery, expands into Canadian grocery stores, they are pulling out all the stops to have Canadians give gluten-free baked goods another shot. Notably, the creation of an elaborate, pop-up sandwich shop to convert reluctant Canadians into gluten-free believers.
Canadians are hesitant to try gluten-free products
But really, who can blame them? up until now, gluten-free products have been limited in choice, many have been crumbly, some have uneven and inconsistent texture, and many have left gluten sensitive Canadians unsatisfied.
Enter 'Promise Superior Sandwiches,' Toronto's hottest new lunch destination … that doesn't actually exist.
All we are saying is give (gluten-free) a chance …
Starting in Toronto, Promise Gluten Free is inviting locals to fool their gluten sensitive spouses, coworkers, friends and loved ones into trying a range of gluten-free products for free at the one-day restaurant pop-up, all in an over-the-top effort to give gluten-free life another chance.
Our celebrity chef makes gluten-free 'gourmet'
Teaming with Toronto's Assembly Chef's Hall and local celebrity chef Nick Liu (@ninjachef of DaiLo and Little DaiLo), Promise Superior Sandwiches will set up shop for one day on April (Fool's Day) first and offer elegant sandwich creations, served on impossibly delicious gluten-free bread, loaves and buns.
"There are thousands of Canadians diagnosed as gluten sensitive whose health would benefit from going gluten-free," said Tom Doyle, Founder of Promise Gluten Free. "The problem is that Canadians have been underserviced and let down by typical gluten-free offerings. We're doing something really big and over the top to show them that gluten-free can taste great, is available in a wide range of products and can help them live a satisfying gluten-free life."
Created and curated by Chef Nick Liu, Promise Superior Sandwiches will be sampling four gluten-free designer sandwiches for the event including:
- T.O. Avocado Toast: Served on gluten-free chia loaf.
- Perfect Pulled Chicken: Served on gluten free sourdough.
- Beyond Banh Mi: Served on white gluten-free rolls.
- The Corned Beef Closer: Corned Beef and Cabbage served on freshly baked gluten-free rosemary sourdough bread.
"We're inviting everyone to try the amazing artisanal sandwiches at our one-day pop-up, and we are putting out a special invitation to anyone with a spouse, friend or co-worker who has been resistant to their gluten resistance," added Doyle. "We know our fresh baked gluten free bread and full range of gluten-free bakery products will show them how good gluten-free can really taste."
