General Mills Canada announced as Official Supplier of Cereal, Granola Bars and Yogurt
HAMILTON, ON, Dec. 1, 2014 /CNW/ - Hungry athletes, coaches and volunteers will be getting a nutritional boost during the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games thanks to cereal, granola bars and yogurt from General Mills Canada, a company with a long history of supporting international sport and children's fitness.
The company was announced today as an Official Supplier, the latest corporate sponsor to step up and get behind the Games. So far, 42 corporate sponsors have signed on to support the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, which will be the largest international multi-sport event in Canada's history.
"We're excited to have General Mills and their employees as part of our Games family. This leading company has iconic brands that we all know and remember," said Saäd Rafi, chief executive officer of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee (TO2015). "We'll be hosting 10,000 coaches and athletes, with the help of more than 23,000 volunteers. "Our company has been a proud supporter of many amateur athletes and their drive to the podium. This partnership announcement is a further demonstration of our ongoing commitment to promote sport, fitness and amateur athletics."
The announcement was made at Sport Hamilton's annual Breakfast of Champions, where the community gathered to support and celebrate local athletes who have achieved provincial, national and international success. General Mills Canada has been creating national programs that have supported Canadian Olympic athletes since 1998, such as their "CHEER" campaign that saw Canadians send thousands of messages to athletes, expressing their best wishes, pride and support prior to the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The TORONTO 2015 Pan American Games will take place July 10–26 and the Parapan American Games August 7–15. The TORONTO 2015 Games are funded by the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario, as well as Lead Partner CIBC and other partners and sponsors.
The TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee (TO2015) is tasked with managing and delivering the Games. It is working to bring some of the world's best athletes and artists to the Greater Golden Horseshoe region, giving Ontarians a unique chance to be part of the action, and making the region a hub for sport.
