62% of teens surveyed want smartphones for Christmas
Gaming systems and tablets also among top items on holiday wish list poll conducted by Reviewed By Teenagers.com
TORONTO, Dec. 10, 2013 /CNW/ - While children dream of sugar plum fairies, parents are having a nightmare figuring out what gifts to get their children for the holidays.
Fortunately, parents no longer have to guess what their kids want from Santa. According to a new survey by Reviewed By Teenagers.com, a website created by teens for teens, 62% of teens surveyed (aged 12-17) listed an iPhone 5s smartphone as their #1 "most wanted" gift.
Approximately 26% of teens named a PS4 gaming system as their top choice, while 8% of respondents ranked a Microsoft Surface tablet as their most desired gift. The remaining 4% of gifts ranked number one consisted of a variety of other brands.
"The Reviewed By Teenagers.com Holiday Wish List survey gives parents unbiased insight into what teens are wishing for this Christmas. Perhaps only Santa has a more comprehensive wish list," says David Chau, co-founder of Reviewed By Teenagers.com. The website features product and entertainment reviews by aspiring teen journalists.
"Some firms have been interested in investing in us and a toy manufacturer talked about putting the Reviewed By Teenagers.com 4-star rating seal on their products, but the site remains 100% based on unfiltered teen opinions."
The online survey of over 1,200 teenagers from around the world also revealed what gifts parents might expect to receive from their teens this Christmas:
- Gift cards
- Headphones (BOSE was the top headphone brand listed)
- Vacuum cleaner (The iRobot Roomba was the top vacuum brand listed by teens)
Teens were also asked the question: "What gifts would you not want for Christmas?" Parents should take note of these top three answers:
- Clothes/underwear
- Cologne/Perfume
- Soap
