Bay Street Legend Fred Ketchen extends his philanthropy across all three hospital sites
MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 10, 2014 /CNW/ - Trillium Health Partners Foundation is thrilled to announce a $5-million gift from business leader and philanthropist Fred Ketchen. These funds will be invested in critical research, innovation, equipment and the redevelopment of patient spaces across Trillium Health Partners – supporting our health care teams and benefiting the lives of hundreds of thousands of people who turn to Trillium Health Partners for life-saving care.
Trillium Health Partners is one of the largest community-based, acute care facilities in Canada. Comprised of The Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital and Queensway Health Centre, Trillium Health Partners serves the growing and diverse populations of Mississauga, West Toronto and surrounding communities, seeing more than 1.5 patient visits each year. Trillium Health Partners is also a research and teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto Mississauga and the Mississauga Academy of Medicine.
"This donation is an investment in our overall mission to create a new kind of health care for a healthier community," comments Steve Hoscheit, President & CEO, Trillium Health Partners Foundation. "It is not dedicated to one specific area, but will be used for the highest priority needs across all three sites of Trillium Health Partners."
"Fred is the true definition of what giving back is all about. His commitment to health care, community spirit and passion for philanthropy is present everywhere he goes. We are honoured that such an astute businessman as Fred has chosen to invest in our hospital," states Hoscheit.
To date, Mr. Ketchen has generously donated more than $6.3 million to Trillium Health Partners Foundation. He has helped fund several life-saving programs across the health care spectrum, from cardiac care to critical pieces of equipment such as MRI machines and CT scanners, to medical education and treatment programs – all playing a key role in bringing many health care projects to life at our hospital.
Mr. Ketchen's gift was announced at the Annual Community Address given by Trillium Health Partners and Trillium Health Partners Foundation.
