ORO-MEDONTE, ON, Juy 27, 2015 /CNW/ - Republic Live are pleased to confirm that their inaugural WayHome Music and Arts drew 35,000 people from every province and territory in Canada, 28 US states and 8 foreign countries. The festival included headliners Neil Young + Promise of the Real, Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Alt-J, Modest Mouse and Hozier with an additional 60 plus artists performing over the 3 days. The festival offered 4 stages, a variety of late-night spectacles and experiences, original art installations, fine international and local cuisine, an on-site farmers market, and more.
"We'd like to thank our friends at AC Entertainment, and are tremendously grateful to all the support we received from the artists, management, labels, partners, media, and of course the fans, who helped make our very first WayHome such an amazing festival," said Shannon McNevan, Executive Director, Republic Live. "We've been working all year to create one of those time of your life experiences and watching the way fans connected with music and arts this weekend is something our team will never forget."
Attendance was at 35% by midnight on Thursday, July 23 with 80% on the grounds by midnight Friday, July 24th and 80% of ticket holders camped at the festival. WayHome free water solutions poured enough water to save over 115,134 plastic bottles. The on-site medical team, implemented by Odyssey Medical, included multi-disciplinary staff of physicians and health care providers which allowed for clinical decision making on site, significantly averting numbers of ambulance transfers to hospital. The presence of standby ambulances meant availability of ambulance response to the event site, as well as the community. In fact ambulances were deployed to three calls in Oro-Medonte, unrelated to the event, meaning faster response times for residents this past weekend.
