BURLINGTON, ON, April 1, 2026 /CNW/ - The Burlington Waterfront Sculpture Trail returns April 11, transforming the city's waterfront into an open-air gallery featuring more than 60 sculptures by artists from across Canada and internationally.
Now in its fifth year, the exhibition runs through May 31 in Spencer Smith Park and throughout downtown Burlington. The free event was recently recognized with the 2026 Burlington Economic Development & Tourism Award for Excellence.
Visitors can view large-scale installations along a 1.5-kilometre route linking Burlington's waterfront and downtown. Major installation artists include Alan Flint (Hamilton), Boris Kramer (St. Augustine, FL), Zishuo Li (Markham), Gabriel George (Sault Ste. Marie), Ron Baird (Beaverton), Art Aggregate (Hamilton), C. Wells (Hamilton), Cornelia Peckart (Hamilton), Leila Partovi (Toronto), Mark Puigmarti (Port Perry), Mike Salisbury (Guelph), Roda Medhat (Markham) and Zeke Moores (Windsor).
This year visitors can download the new Digital Passport to collect points by visiting all BWST sculptures, vote for a favourite work, and enter to win prizes one of five $100 Burlington Downtown Gift Cards. The artist selected as the Audience Choice Award winner will receive a $1,000 prize!
A series of public events will run alongside the exhibition:
- Family Day at the Sculpture Trail (May 9, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), featuring live performances, hands-on activities, interactive sculpture experiences for kids, and guided tours for the whole family
- Friday Night Lights (April 24 and May 22, dusk to 11 p.m.), back bigger and brighter this year, Friday Night Lights invites visitors to experience the Sculpture Trail after dark–offering illuminated installations and evening musical entertainment
- Tuesday Tours (April 14, April 28, May 12, May 26 at 7 p.m.), a set of one-hour guided walking tours starting at the gazebo in Spencer Smith Park and offering insight into the artists, the works, and the vision behind the BWST
An augmented reality experience is available for visitors to the Burlington Centre, the Burlington Public Library's Central Branch and Alton Branch, and Spencer Smith Park to engage with digital scans of the permanent Dan Lawrie International Sculpture Collection at the Royal Botanical Gardens.
The Burlington Waterfront Sculpture Trail is part of the Dan Lawrie International Sculpture Collection and is supported by more than 40 community partners.
