Gala event celebrated philanthropy and peace with musical guest Brian Wilson, co-founder of the Beach Boys
TORONTO, Nov. 25, 2015 /CNW/ - Greenwin is pleased to announce that on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at The Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the Jewish National Fund (JNF) of Toronto honoured Kevin Green and Joseph Frieberg for their exemplary leadership in the Toronto Jewish community and lifelong support of the State of Israel. Proceeds from the 2015 Negev Dinner will fund the building of a new multi-purpose facility at The Samson Israel Tennis Center in Beer Sheva, Israel, and will support the development of an Israel Tennis Center in Sderot, Israel. Programs at both facilities will include co-existence between Israel's Jewish and Arab populations, Ethiopian integration, programs for the physically and developmentally disabled and youth-at-risk.
"We are delighted to honour Joseph Frieberg and Kevin Green and we are very proud to support the Israel Tennis Centers (ITC), a cause which is dear to both of them. Both projects will have a tremendous impact on the diverse youth in Beer Sheva and Sderot, assisting kids at risk, promoting co-existence and providing a variety of social services," said Faye Minuk, President, JNF Toronto.
"We are very fortunate that from coast to coast, attendance and fundraising at all of our Negev Dinners has increased over the years," said JNF CEO Josh Cooper. "People realize that if you want to help support and build Israel, JNF is the natural organization to help fulfill your charitable objectives."
"With your support, more children will be able to play, have fun, and just be children," Green said as he received a standing ovation.
The event, co-chaired by Cary Green and Mitch Goldhar, hosted 1,600 guests, who were treated to a special musical performance by the legendary Beach Boys co-founder, Brian Wilson.
