15th edition of Nuit Blanche at city hall - Montréal's population is invited to create a collective mural in a unique visual and musical ambiance Français
MONTRÉAL, March 2, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - As part of its 15th participation in the Nuit blanche, on Saturday, March 3d, under the theme (re)MIX, city hall proposes a unique, free experience, combining visual and digital arts, in partnership with MU and the Société des arts technologiques (SAT).
From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., city hall visitors will take part in the creation of a collective mural based on the city's coat of arms, in collaboration with MU artist-mediators. Concurrently, SAT artists will bring the artwork to life through projections and musical performances. Moreover, the council room will be open for visitors and explained by professional tour guides.
"Our Nuit blanche programming will offer, in the breathtaking hall, a surprising blend of music and visual displays both in line with Montréal's penchant for innovation and its democratic values. There will be magic in the air during this special evening, namely thanks to the collaboration of two beacon organizations who contribute to Montréal's status as a forward-thinking metropolis, focused on its citizens" said council chair Cathy Wong.
MU's mission is to embellish the city by creating murals anchored in local communities, thus integrating art in Montrealers' daily lives. The organization created its first mural back in 2007, and has completed 80 more major murals since, in addition to some 100 community projects in fifteen different Montréal neighborhoods."
The SAT is a non profit organization known internationally for its active and pioneering role in the development of immersive virtual reality technologies. It is also a centre for artists, research and training in digital arts, and plays an important part in training a new generation of artists in the digital era.
