12th Annual CIBC Taste of Asia Festival kicks off in Markham

Festival will feature Canadian & Asian superstars and bring together thousands of people in the Greater Toronto Area; Special citizenship ceremony a highlight of opening festivities

TORONTO, June 25, 2014 /CNW/ - The 12th annual CIBC Taste of Asia Festival will take place in Markham on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29th, bringing the best of Asian and South Asian culture to Ontarians. Along with outstanding performances, this year's Festival will feature a special public ceremony co-hosted by CIBC and Citizenship and Immigration Canada for 50 soon-to-be new Canadians, who will take their Oath of Citizenship on Saturday, June 28tth. The Honourable Chris Alexander, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, will attend the citizenship ceremony, as part of Canada Day celebrations.

This year's festival will feature unforgettable Chinese, Bollywood, Afghan, and South Asian performances, as well as over 150 food-tasting stations, contests, and so much more. "We've invited Guo Rong, who sang at the Beijing Olympics and sang with Hu Jin Tao, past president of China, to headline an amazing show on June 28," said festival Chairman Dr. Ken Ng of Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham (FCCM). "We want everyone to mark their calendars now as the 12th Annual CIBC Taste of Asia is shaping up to be our best year yet!"

About The 2014 CIBC Taste of Asia Festival

The 2014 CIBC Taste of Asia Festival is a two-day festival of multicultural foods and performances on June 28 & 29, 2014. The festival will take place on Kennedy Rd. between Steeles Ave. and Denison Rd. which will be closed to traffic to host the event. Admission is FREE. Over 150 booths will be there to cater to your taste buds and curiosity from Saturday noon to midnight and Sunday noon to 6pm. Enjoy free shows, live entertainment, dancing, Chinese opera, Martial Arts with the Shaolin warrior monks, and a lot more.
