MONTRÉAL, May 25, 2026 /CNW/ - Shawn Batten, from Montérégie, got a call last week that would make anyone's jaw drop and head spin!
Loto-Québec phoned him to tell him that he'd won $12,500,000 in the May 19 Lotto Max draw. Because he'd bought his ticket via the Loto-Québec app, he was able to double-check his win straight away by logging into his account. The lucky winner, who you'll often see near a go-kart track, picked up his prize at the Casino de Montréal. While there, he and his family got to admire a car belonging to racing legend Michael Schumacher.

Loto-Québec benefits the people of Québec in so many ways--and this is one of them," pointed out Isabelle Jean, Loto-Québec's Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Lottery Games.
Highlights
- On the morning of May 20, Shawn Batten received a phone call he never expected: a Loto-Québec employee was on the line to inform him that the Lotto Max ticket he'd purchased through the Loto-Québec app had won him $12,500,000! "You've just made my day!" Shawn exclaimed after hearing the news.
- At Loto-Québec's request, he logged into his account to confirm his win. Once that was done, he rang up his spouse, who initially thought he was joking! "I'm in a meeting, and all the team can hear you... You're not joking right now, are you?" she asked him.
