MONTRÉAL, Sept. 1, 2026 /CNW/ -- The August 21 Lotto Max draw will go down in history, as it gave 49 people from across Québec a share of the $55 million jackpot! Most of them didn't know each other, but they had one thing in common: each had each purchased at least one share of the winning Formule groupe ticket on the Loto-Québec gaming website.
The new millionaires gathered at Loto-Québec's head office on September 1 to speak with the media and receive their share of the prize. This is the first time the corporation has handed out so many cheques worth more than $1 million in a single day!

The 49 winners come from 12 different regions, from the Outaouais to the Côte-Nord.
Some learned the news when the Loto-Québec team contacted them. Their reactions ran the gamut from laughter and disbelief to tears--every emotion was on display.
Laurentides resident François B. purchased his ticket just minutes before the draw. When he checked the results the next morning, he said, "My heart skipped a beat!" He plans to buy a more luxurious vehicle and spoil his children.
Côte-Nord resident Jacques V. became emotional upon discovering his win. "I had two sleepless nights. It's hard to believe, but it feels good!"
"I had a moment there!" said Estrie resident Serge H. when he realized that the amount in his account was his own share of the prize, rather than the amount divided among all members of the group.
Capitale-Nationale resident Michel Charly B. intends to keep working, even though he still can't believe he won such a large sum of money--especially since it was his first time buying a group ticket!
