ViXS XConnex™ 1000 and 1030 MoCA 2.0 Ready Chipset Shipping on Networked
Cable DOCSIS 3.0 Modems with Major North American Cable MSO
TORONTO, Dec. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - ViXS Systems Inc. (TSX: VXS), a pioneer
and leader in media processing silicon solutions, announces today that
the XConnex 1000 MoCA RF and XConnex 1030 MoCA MAC / PHY chipset
solution will ship its 1 millionth unit this month, making it the
largest volume shipment of a MoCA 2.0 ready standalone solution in
advance of the official certification. Though industry MoCA 2.0 test
fixtures did not become available until December 2013, ViXS designed
its MoCA 2.0 ready chipset such that it could be deployed in the field
as a full MoCA 1.1 solution earlier this year, well in advance of the
official certification. With the certification set, the upgrade of
existing field deployed MoCA 1.1 products to the full MoCA 2.0 standard
is initiated through built-in advanced networking capabilities. ViXS is
presently engaged with its customers to remotely upgrade field deployed
boxes to full MoCA 2.0 capabilities through 2014.
ViXS embarked on its MoCA 2.0 development in advance of the formal
certification and architected a product family based upon customer
requests. Important criteria for customers choosing ViXS' MoCA based
solutions over incumbent suppliers included the requirements to be
lower cost, to manage power consumption effectively for very confined
and small footprint devices, to have a lower overall chip count and to
have lower bill of material, in addition to having a pin and plug-in
compatible MoCA 1.1 and MoCA 2.0 hardware solution. Based upon ViXS
surpassing the 1 million shipment mark so quickly, ViXS believes it has
met all of its customers' expectations.
"We are delighted to have reached this major corporate milestone in our
company's history and to be at the forefront of MoCA 2.0 solutions roll
out", said Sally Daub, President and CEO ViXS Systems Inc. "The
ability to offer MoCA solutions both as integrated technology and as
standalone chip sets uniquely positions ViXS strategically for the
connected home and new data rates for media streaming that will be
required to connect multi-stream HD and 4K UltraHD media processing
solutions across different devices within the home".
About ViXS Systems Inc.
ViXS is the pioneer in designing and developing high-performance
semiconductor solutions for media processing equipment for the cloud,
distribution network, and consumer homes. With over 428 patents issued
and pending worldwide, many industry awards for innovation, and a
leader in advanced media processors with over 28 million shipments to
date, ViXS has established a clear leadership position.
ViXS has a comprehensive portfolio of products to meet the diverse needs
of the global media industry. The XCode line of system-on-chip (SoC)
products enable device manufacturers to create set-tops and gateways
that support advanced services while keeping costs and power
consumption low. ViXS MoCA 1.1 and 2.0 solutions, whether stand-alone
or integrated into the XCode SoC, create home networks capable of
handling high-bandwidth video. The latest addition to the portfolio is
encoding, decoding and transcoding of High-Efficiency Video Coding
(HEVC) streams, up to 10-bit main profile. HEVC will reduce video
bandwidth by 50%, allowing UltraHD 4k and 8k content to proliferate at
an unprecedented pace.
