VANCOUVER, July 16, 2013 /CNW/ - The entertaining TV mini-series "Mining
Your Future" airs for the 3rd time, starting TODAY at 8:00 pm PST, since its premiere in September
2012. Back by popular demand, the BC mini-series focuses on showcasing
great career opportunities within the mining and exploration industry
as well as educating the general public with facts as opposed to common
myths with respect to the often spotlighted sector.
The TV series was awarded an HR Diversity Award by the Mining
Association of BC (MABC) and the BC Mining HR Task Force earlier this
year for its efforts and dedication to the authenticity and eye-opening
nature of the program.
"I could not be more proud and thrilled at the success of MYF. Our crew
dedicated thousands of hours, traveling thousands of kilometers around
this amazing province last year, job-shadowing some of the most
spectacular individuals any of us had ever met. I love hearing from
students, teachers, even mining industry leaders that our series not
only made them laugh but taught them new things" says Maggie Dorf, the
creator, producer and host of the eight episode TV mini-series.
As the weekly half-hour TV show is aired again, starting tonight on
CHEK, Dorf and her crew are busy filming for season two as well as for
their new show "Job Hunters", which Dorf explains was a natural
progression. The decision to create "Job Hunters" was based on letters
received from the public and fans, asking for a wider range of sectors
and industries to discover and including other provinces.
"We love what we do, telling other people's stories, making viewers
laugh and best of all opening their eyes to new things - so declining
that next natural step just wasn't an option." adds Dorf.
"Mining Your Future" season 1, often referred to as a blend of a
documentary with a touch of reality TV, featured 24 careers over the
course of 8 half-hour episodes, and was aired only in BC, however
"Mining Your Future" season 2 will air across Canada this Fall, as will
the premiere season of "Job Hunters".
