The Canadian Chamber of Commerce joins the Dragons' Den day celebrations across Canada

TORONTO, Sept. 19, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian Chamber of Commerce is pleased to join the cast of CBC Television's Dragons' Den to present them with a certificate of recognition for their phenomenal contribution to Canadian entrepreneurship at the launch of the show's 7th season.

"Innovation is not a choice. Improving Canadian competitiveness demands it. The contribution made by Canada's entrepreneurs is at the heart of our country's economic growth," said Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. "Every day we see firsthand the invaluable contribution made by entrepreneurs all across our country. We need to replicate the "Dragons' Den Phenomenon" in every part of Canada!"

All five of the Dragons, David Chilton, Bruce Croxon, Arlene Dickinson, Kevin O'Leary and Jim Treliving, have also been made honourary members of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce network.

CBC Television's Dragons' Den has been the highest-rated unscripted Canadian TV show in the country for the past three years running. This was again the case last season (Season 6, 2011-2012), when it rated second highest out of ALL Canadian entertainment (scripted and unscripted) programs, averaging approximately 1.4 million viewers per episode. The show consistently reaches an average of 3 million viewers per week - that's 1 in 3 Canadians - and has twice won the Gemini Award for Best Reality Program (2009, 2011).

The new season of Dragons Den starts tonight, Wednesday September 19 at 8PM.
