The Calgary Marriott increases meeting space
CALGARY, May 22, 2012 /CNW/ - Meetings & Convention Calgary has convenient new meeting space to offer clients from around the globe. With the newly renovated and expanded meeting room space, the Marriott and Meetings & Convention Calgary are building on Calgary's already excellent meetings and accommodation facilities and improving the offering at both the city and hotel level.
Close to eclectic shopping, fine dining and attached to the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre, the Calgary Marriott Hotel has always been a premiere venue for the convention and meeting industry. But with client needs growing and changing, the hotel began making expansion plans, which would improve their contribution to making Calgary a thriving business hub.
Expanding to an impressive 4,000 square feet of space, the renovation is tailored to meet planner and client needs. The new addition includes a second larger room that can hold up to 150 people classroom style or can be used as two separate breakout areas. The boardrooms on the main floor also provide more options for last minute, off-site meeting needs. In addition to expanded meeting space, the hotel décor was upgraded, including new carpet, lighting and wall coverings, which gives the space a more contemporary feel.
In considering client needs, the hotel looked at more than décor and square footage - they looked for other ways to improve productivity and change the dynamics of the space. The new meeting rooms now have large windows, which allow more natural light in to the meeting space. According to Don Tomie, Director of Operations at the Calgary Marriot Hotel, "the windows, which are energy efficient with automatic window coverings, keep the cold and heat out but still allow guests to see outside without compromising the integrity of visual presentations." This added natural light will increase productivity and energize event attendees. And with clients and planners demanding better technology access, the wireless bandwidth was increased significantly, providing a more streamlined and consistent level of service.
With the expansion complete as of March 2012, the hotel is now better positioned to offer the space, flexibility and amenities that make Calgary a world-class meeting and convention destination.
