TELMEX files an application to cease to be a reporting issuer in Canada
TORONTO, March 15, 2012 /CNW/ - Teléfonos de México, S.A.B. de C.V. ("TELMEX" or the "Company") announced on March 15, 2012 that in connection with the completion of the recent tender offer for TELMEX shares by América Móvil, S.A.B. de C.V., the Company has applied to the Ontario Securities Commission and the securities regulatory authorities in various other Canadian jurisdictions for a decision that it is not a reporting issuer in such jurisdictions.
If the application is approved, the Company will no longer be a reporting issuer in any jurisdiction in Canada and, as a result, will no longer be required to file financial statements and other continuous disclosure documents with Canadian securities regulatory authorities. A decision to permit the Company to cease reporting in Canada will not affect the Company's listing or reporting practices on the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, S.A.B. de C.V. (the "Mexican Stock Exchange").
Notwithstanding a decision that the Company is not a reporting issuer in Canada, all financial statements and other continuous disclosure materials required to be filed by the Company under Mexican corporate and securities laws and the rules and regulations of the Mexican Stock Exchange will continue to be available for Canadian shareholders and all other non-Canadian shareholders. All continuous disclosure documents of the Company are publicly available to all TELMEX shareholders on the investor relations page of the Company's website at www.telmex.com.
