TORONTO, May 14, 2013 /CNW/ - Following a successful beta launch and with hundreds of registered members, Toronto-based Urban Hamper is revolutionizing the dry cleaning industry by offering online ordering, delivery and drop off locations throughout the city.
The e-commerce start-up has partnered with dozens of dry cleaners including some of the larger players in the industry. These partnerships allow customers to place and pay for their order online then drop their personalized, re-usable garment bag with Authorized Urban Hamper cleaners. Co-Founder Rob Winn explains, "Over the past number of months, the market has determined many of our members to be professionals living and working in the downtown core. The Preeners is a fantastic example of a partnership that accommodates the Bay Street crowd. Their storefronts in the PATH combined with our online platform provide our customers with the highest quality garment care in the most efficient way."
Urban Hamper has been active in Toronto's bustling technology community as well, partnering with innovation hub MaRS to take advantage of their global reputation, fantastic shared office space and vast wealth of knowledge. Additionally, Urban Hamper has signed on to a new Canadian charity initiative and pledged to give back by donating options that will convert to cash when there is an exit by initial investors. "We are humbled to be a part of the technology industry in Toronto," Winn continues, "the amount of intellect, drive and innovation here is something that most industries won't see in a lifetime."
Urban Hamper connects dry cleaners with customers by providing an e-commerce gateway for consumers to manage their dry cleaning online.
