Survey Says Canadians Enjoy Single Serve Coffee for Convenience & Variety

TORONTO, Nov. 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Just in time for Daylight Saving, Canadians have a new reason to rise and shine besides gaining an hour this fall, as Folgers® Gourmet Selections® introduces new Mocha Swirl K-Cup® packs. Great news for the 84 per cent of Canadian coffee drinkers who have tried single serve coffee and enjoy it for the convenience (38%) as well as the variety (27%) it offers, as revealed in a recent Leger poll conducted on behalf of Folgers.

When it comes to the taste of their coffee, Canadians also have a sweeter side, with one in five (20%) preferring it to have a hint of mocha, vanilla or caramel, while those ages 18-34 are even more likely (33%) to enjoy flavoured coffee.

Regardless of flavour or format, Canadians from coast-to-coast agree on how to enjoy the perfect morning cup of coffee with almost half (48%) saying getting caught up on the news is their favourite morning coffee ritual. Other favoured rise 'n shine customs include enjoying a cup of java with friends or family over breakfast (14%), in transit (13%), at work (13%) in bed (4%) and after a morning workout (2%).  For younger Canadian coffee drinkers (18-34), time is of the essence as they sip their first cup in transit (20% vs. 4% 55+) or at work (20% vs. 5% 55+) making Folgers Gourmet Selections K-Cup® packs a great choice for Canadians on the go.

A survey of 1500 Canadians was completed online between August 20, 2013, and August 22, 2013 using Leger's online panel, LegerWeb.  A probability sample of the same size would yield a margin of error of +/- 2.5%, 19 times out of 20.
