Statement from Tom Anselmi, President and C.O.O. of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment on the passing of The Honourable Lincoln M. Alexander, PC, CC, OONT, CD, QC
TORONTO, Oct. 19, 2012 /CNW/ - Everyone at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment is saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend The Honourable Lincoln Alexander. Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife Marni, his son Keith and their entire family.
Mr. Alexander was a pioneer, trailblazer and a great Canadian. He was a friend of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and a fan of our teams. He served as the Chairman of the Raptors Foundation for several years and more recently, he served as the Chair Emeritus of the MLSE Team Up Foundation.
Through his work with our Foundation and so many others, Mr. Alexander will be remembered for being a champion for children, particularly those who are at-risk.
With all of his successes and accomplishments, his greatest legacy is his public service, serving as a role model and advocate for human rights that paved the way for so many Canadians in their lives today.
All of us at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment feel blessed and honoured to have been among those so privileged to have known and worked with him.
