Sofame To Manufacture Heat Recovery Equipment For MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, ME
MONTREAL, March 2, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Sofame Technologies Inc. (TSXV: SDW), a leading manufacturer of environmentally efficient industrial water heaters and cost effective heat recovery systems for traditional boilers, is pleased to announce that it will custom manufacture equipment, including a Sofame Percotherm® stack heat recovery system, for a new 192-bed hospital construction project in Augusta, Maine. Delivery of the Sofame equipment is scheduled for summer 2012 and the new hospital will open in the spring of 2014.
"We are currently tracking ahead of schedule," John Milbrand, Construction Manager for MaineGeneral, announced in a recent media interview.
The building's foundation is 80 percent complete, and steel work should be complete by summer, followed by stairs, plumbing and roof installation. The design of the hospital incorporates ultra- efficient heating and cooling systems, renewable energy sources where feasible and building materials from local sources. "Green" design is expected to greatly reduce MGMC's environmental footprint while saving 12 million gallons of water a year and $900,000 in annual operating costs.
According to John Gocek, Sofame's President, "This order, from a second new hospital construction project in just the last four months, reflects Sofame's proven technology and our company's ability to meet new building heating efficiency standards set by the DOE and ASHRAE."
