Ryerson University applauds federal budget focus on education, research

TORONTO, March 22, 2013 /CNW/ - The federal budget provides a welcome focus on university research, education and youth innovation that will serve to enhance Canada's future prosperity, said Ryerson University President Sheldon Levy.

"Talent is the competitive advantage of the 21st century in an increasingly competitive economy, and we are very pleased to see the federal government continue to demonstrate its support for post-secondary education and all those who want to be part of this important step forward." Levy said. "With support to develop skills and talent for all Canadians, the government has made a strong statement about ensuring that all Canadians are well-equipped for the challenges ahead," Levy said.

Ryerson has a tradition of career-focused education, and research providing real solutions to real challenges. The university is home to the Centre for Urban Energy, an academic-industry partnership that is exploring and developing solutions to urban energy issues; the recently opened Engineering Student Design Zone; and the renowned Digital Media Zone, a dynamic space designed to help young entrepreneurs innovate, collaborate and take digital ideas to market.
