Revera expands presence in Quebec with acquisition of Brunet Health Care Group

Diverse Brunet business offers Revera opportunities for innovation and growth, says CEO Jeff Lozon

MONTREAL, Feb. 2, 2012 /CNW/ - Revera Inc., a leading North American provider of seniors' accommodation, care and services, today announced that it has acquired Brunet Health Care Group, a respected Montreal-based company with a reputation for excellence in home care, medical services and training for the past 34 years.  The acquisition complements Revera's existing Home Health office in Montreal which has been providing home care services since 1985.

With the acquisition, all employees will remain with the company.  Revera's Home Health division now employs more than 5,000 people in 29 cities across seven provinces, delivering services to more than 5,400 clients every week.

In addition to its home care services, the Brunet Industrial Medical Clinic, which offers a full range of medical services to companies and their employers, will continue to be a key part of the business. For its corporate clients, the clinic offers services such as pre-employment check-ups, medical expertise in industrial accidents, vaccination campaigns and blood testing.  The clinic works with a full range of specialists including orthopedics, psychologists, psychiatrists, neurologists and nutritionists.

Another area of the Brunet Health Care Group business that is new for Revera is the Brunet Academy, which is an education program to train and develop PAB (i.e., nurse aide) workers. Created in 1985, the Brunet Academy is an accredited training centre through Emplois-Quebec and a recognized school for people seeking certification for nurse aide positions.

The growing need for home care services

The Canadian Home Care Association estimates that there has been a 51 per cent increase in the number of home care recipients over the past decadei, and that approximately one million Canadians now receive publicly funded home care each yearii. By 2017, it is estimated the number of seniors with chronic conditions requiring home care services will increase by one-third. iii
