TORONTO, Dec. 21, 2018 /CNW/ - The Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) is launching a public awareness campaign to remind Ontarians of the highly skilled care the province's Registered Nurses (RNs) will provide over the holidays.
'The Gift' is a one-minute video advertisement airing in cinemas across the province and on Facebook beginning today.
"As we enter the holiday season, we want Ontarians to be aware of the skills and compassion Registered Nurses share with their patients," said ONA President Vicki McKenna, RN. "The work of RNs impacts the lives of all Ontarians, from infancy through to old age. Day and night, seven days a week, there are highly educated Registered Nurses working to provide high-quality patient care, even while others are celebrating the season with friends and family."
McKenna says that RNs love what they do, and are passionate about being there to provide the care Ontarians need and deserve, despite workplace challenges that include heavy workloads due to understaffing. The video features two scenarios that demonstrate the direct impact that nursing has on Ontarians. Audiences are reminded that nurses are on the job even when others are celebrating the season with their loved ones.
The video and Facebook ads can also be viewed by visiting http://nursesknow.ona.org.
ONA is the union representing more than 65,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
