MONTREAL, Dec. 15, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) yesterday named MEGA Brands its 2014 company of the year in the industry, for its astute decision to move its operations from China back to Quebec, and the results this has had. Jean-François Albert, vice-president, manufacturing, at MEGA Brands, warmly thanked the SPE for this honour, which acknowledges the company's major efforts to modernize its plastics processes.
"This recognition is well deserved when you consider that by making smart investments in state-of-the-art equipment, MEGA Brands has proven that manufacturing operations in North America can be every bit as competitive as they are in China if they are well managed," said Marie-France Sosa, president of the Quebec chapter of the Society of Plastics Engineers.
"Moreover, the green certification MEGA Brands obtained this year demonstrates that the plastics industry can indeed operate sustainably, as evidenced by the company's environmental performance since repatriating its operations," added Ms. Sosa.
The SPE's membership includes close to 20,000 plastics professionals in more than 70 countries worldwide. It is the reference in the field of plastics.
