EDMONTON, Sept. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Packers Plus Energy Services Inc. has officially opened the doors to its MX Manufacturing Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. Company officials were joined by members of local, provincial and federal government.
In addition to the production capabilities and innovative technological components of the facility, the MX Manufacturing Centre was also built with the employee in mind. The new facility employs over 200 staff in Edmonton and is Packers Plus' largest manufacturing center worldwide. The center includes the world's first robotic assembly of its type, QA, and a testing and torqueing system including a proprietary traceability method developed by Packers Plus in conjunction with one of its key suppliers. The MX facility is the first of its kind in the world.
"Our MX manufacturing process provides the ability to determine the source of materials traced back to the mill of origin for any component of any tool worldwide. For example, we can determine the material certification and the steel mill for any component of a tool that was shipped to China or Saudi Arabia," said Marlon Leggott, Packers Plus Director of Manufacturing.
"The MX Manufacturing Centre, in conjunction with the Packers Plus Houston Manufacturing Center, provides product for all Packers Plus operations worldwide and has the capability to increase production dramatically in order to meet the demand of all Packers Plus customers," said Dan Themig, President and CEO. To complement the capacity of the primary manufacturing facilities, inventory is also held throughout the district locations to allow for quick response on jobs where additional equipment is required immediately.
