Over 1,000 FBI school graduates to visit Québec City - The FBI taps Québec City for its 2018 conference!

QUÉBEC CITY, Aug. 18, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - More than 1,000 officer graduates from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, are set to hone their skills at the Québec City Convention Centre from July 20 to 25, 2018, at the annual FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA) Training Conference and Exhibition. The world's strongest law enforcement leadership network picked Québec City as the destination for its summer conference for senior law enforcement professionals, most of whom come from a variety of law enforcement bodies in the United States, as well as Canada and certain other countries.

Québec City's nomination was presented to FBINAA's Executive Board by the organization's New York State and Eastern Canada chapter in collaboration with Sûreté du Québec and the Québec City Convention Centre. The chapter's president deemed Québec City the destination of choice based on its European flair, unique attractions, high-quality conference facilities, and convenient location near the U.S.

"FBINAA's decision to come to Québec City is a testament to the city's exceptional reputation as a destination for business tourism and a boon for the region. The presence of no fewer than 1,000 member agents in Québec City over a five-day period in summer 2018 will generate over $2 million in economic spinoffs for the area," enthused Québec City Convention Centre President and CEO P.-Michel Bouchard.

"Fulfilling our mission and developing our skills requires meaningful exchanges with high-caliber international partners like FBINAA," said Deputy Director General of Sûreté du Québec Marcel Savard. A graduate of FBINAA himself, he explained that "holding these types of events in Québec City goes to show that Québec's policing expertise and practices are held in high esteem across the border." Sûreté du Québec and the province's entire policing community are thrilled about this opportunity to roll out the red carpet for the world-renowned network of public security specialists.

FBINAA is a network of nearly 18,000 active and retired officers who studied at the FBI National Academy in Quantico. A number of agents from Sûreté du Québec, the RCMP, and other municipal police forces around the country are Academy graduates. A minimum rank of lieutenant is required to participate in the Academy's intensive three-month training program, which reserves only a limited number of places for officers from outside the United States.
