Ontario Student Leaders Release Survey Results and Launch New Initiative

OTTAWA, Feb. 22, 2013 /CNW/ - Today The Ontario Student Trustees Association (OSTA-AECO) released the results of the 2012 Ontario Student, Parent and Educator Survey.  Questions were answered by both Hirad Zafari, President, and Noah Parker, Communications Officer.

"The results were very surprising in some cases, but gave an accurate and descriptive view into the opinions of those who make our education system work" said Noah Parker, Communications Officer.

"It's more than just a survey; it's more than just 10 questions on a website.  It's an opportunity for each and every student in this province to say what they really feel about some of the most important things in our education system." said Vincent Atallah, project lead for the OSPES 2012-2013.

Immediately before the release of the OSPES results, The Ontario Student Trustees' Association unveiled an initiative entitled "The Ontario Student Trustees' Association Partnership Program".  The initiative takes the first step in the organization's plan to make the voice of students across the province heard clearly.  The initiative opens up the opportunity for all Ontario Students to become active members of their education system.  The program allows students registering to receive monthly updates, access to student voice forums, and information about their education system and how it is changing, but most importantly, the ability to make their voice heard.

"The Partnership Program gives the students a voice, and keeps them up to date with how their elected representatives at OSTA-AECO are representing them" said Hirad Zafari, President.

"In result of the lack of voice students had in their education surrounding Bill 115, OSTA-AECO has created the necessary component for students to have their voice heard" said Jacob Pullia, a Student Trustee from Durham District School Board.

"Today The Ontario Student Trustees' Association made significant steps in solidifying the voices of the millions of Ontario Students" said Noah Parker. "We're looking forward to seeing this develop across the province, and further represent the over 2 million students in Ontario."

Any students looking to register as a partner of The Ontario Student Trustees' Association are encourged to register at partnership.osta-aeco.org

The Release began at 9:15 am, on the 22nd of February at The Westin Hotel, 11 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa Ontario, K1N 9H4.
