News1130 Mourns the Loss of Celebrated Radio Reporter Bruce Williams

VANCOUVER, Feb. 22, 2012 /CNW/ - Longtime News1130 reporter and popular on-air personality Bruce Williams passed away yesterday in Vancouver.

Well-known for the last decade as the afternoon traffic reporter on Vancouver's News1130, Williams was a long-standing and beloved member of the Rogers Media family for more than 18 years.

"We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Bruce's family at this difficult time, and our hearts and thoughts are with them," said Treena Wood, Program Director, News1130.

"Bruce will be remembered for his humility and as the first to lend a hand. He was the calm voice of reason for the afternoon commute, and will be deeply missed by all the entire Rogers Radio family and his loyal listeners," said Geoff Poulton, Vice President and General Manager, Vancouver, Rogers Radio.

Williams was born and raised in Vancouver and began his radio career in 1979. He worked at CKLG, CFMI and JR-FM. In 1996, Williams was working at News1130 when it switched formats from country to all-news, and remained as one of the station's traffic reporters.
